Meet the dedicated board members, directors, and leadership team steering the affairs of SUBEB Bauchi towards achieving universal access to quality basic education for all children in the state.
As the Chief Executive of Bauchi State, His Excellency provides strategic direction and policy support for the education sector. Under his leadership, BASUBEB has prioritized infrastructure development, teacher training, and enrollment drive initiatives including the "Enrol All to the Classroom" program aimed at reducing out-of-school children across the state. His vision for education has led to significant improvements in school infrastructure, teacher quality, and student enrollment throughout Bauchi State.
As the Chief Executive Officer and Accounting Officer of BASUBEB, Alh. Adamu oversees the implementation of Universal Basic Education programs across all 20 LGAs. He coordinates with development partners including UNICEF, USAID, UNESCO, and World Bank, ensuring effective delivery of interventions and maintaining accountability in resource utilization.
Serves as a full-time permanent member providing continuous oversight on board operations. Contributes to policy formulation, strategic planning, and decision-making processes. Brings extensive experience in public administration and education management to guide the Board's initiatives and ensure alignment with state education goals.
Provides strategic guidance on educational policies and implementation strategies. Works closely with the Executive Chairman and other board members to ensure effective governance, quality assurance, and accountability in the delivery of basic education services across all 20 Local Government Areas of Bauchi State.
One of three full-time permanent members who provide specialized expertise and perspectives to the Board. Contributes to policy development, participates in board meetings, and offers professional guidance on specific areas of education management and implementation to enhance the Board's effectiveness.
The Permanent Secretary manages all board documentation, coordinates board meetings, maintains official records, and ensures effective communication between the board and various directorates. The Secretary plays a crucial role in administrative coordination and policy implementation oversight.
Coordinates activities of all directorates, manages staff establishment and promotions, oversees salary administration, handles tender board matters, and supervises the 20 Local Government Education Authorities. The directorate has successfully promoted over 21,000 teaching and non-teaching staff across the state.
Manages the Board's financial resources, ensures proper disbursement of funds from Federal, State, and Local Governments. Oversees UBEC intervention fund management, prepares financial reports, coordinates audits, and maintains transparency in all financial transactions. The directorate manages multiple accounts including matching grants and donor accounts.
Oversees all infrastructure projects including classroom construction and renovation, produces building drawings and bills of quantities, supervises contractors, and ensures quality control. The directorate has successfully executed major UBEC/SUBEB intervention projects worth billions, constructing hundreds of classrooms and providing school furniture across the state.
Develops strategic plans including Medium Term Sector Strategic Plan (MTSSP), manages Education Management Information System (EMIS), coordinates Annual School Census, conducts learning assessments (EGRA, CECA), and oversees community mapping to identify out-of-school children. The directorate provides data-driven insights for policy decisions.
Conducts quality assurance in all LGEAs, monitors school performance, evaluates teacher effectiveness, performs classroom observations, and coordinates termly school resumption monitoring. The directorate ensures compliance with national education policies and provides feedback for continuous improvement across all educational institutions.
Leads community engagement initiatives, trains and monitors School-Based Management Committees (SBMC), coordinates annual enrollment drive campaigns, manages Mothers Association programs, and advocates for increased school enrollment. The directorate works closely with communities to ensure sustainable participation in basic education delivery.
Coordinates school establishment and upgrading, manages sports and extra-curricular activities, oversees guidance and counseling services, implements school health programs, and manages library services. The directorate has established over 100 new schools and successfully represented Bauchi State in national and international academic competitions.
Ensures quality teaching and learning through curriculum support, teacher professional development, procurement of instructional materials, and implementation of innovative teaching methodologies. The directorate has trained hundreds of teachers on modern pedagogical approaches and distributed learning materials across schools.
Manages Early Childhood Care and Development Education (ECCDE), oversees special needs education for physically and mentally challenged children, coordinates nomadic education centers, supervises integrated Qur'anic schools, and implements programs targeting out-of-school children to ensure inclusive education for all.
Oversees the upper basic education level (JSS 1-3) across the state, ensuring quality instruction, adequate infrastructure, and appropriate learning materials. Coordinates with schools to improve student transition from lower basic to upper basic and enhances the overall quality of education at the junior secondary level.
